Bottle I brought to share at Benny’s tasting.
Bottled 8/21/12.
Pours an almost opaque super dark brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to an oily film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, and vanilla. Taste is much the same with some coffee-like flavors as well. There is a medium roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer but it smells better than it tastes in my opinion.

Tried a taster at the Central Coast location.
Good pour, nice head, typical for stout. Smelled decent, a bit malty, a bit chocolate, typical for stout, maybe a bit too cold. Aroma imporoved as it warmed. I had high hopes for this beer, as a friend bragged about this being the best beer from CC, but I was simply let down. It was a very average beer, with little mouthfeel and lacked the a bit of thickness and creaminess that a CO2 poured stout could have.

Picked this up in SLO.
Poured a jet black with a small thin brown head. Smelled of slight choc malt. Taste was slightly smokey with some small hints of chocolate. Not much flavor at all though. It was kind of like BLAH. Not much to brag about. Wont drink again.

Pours a clear super dark brown brew.
Smell is fruity and snappy with a nice chocolate malt scent.
Taste is sweet with a tartness to it. Tastes mostly of smoke and a bit of steel flavor, still better than Guinness.
Mouthfeel is thin.
Drinkable? Not really that metallic taste gets on my nerves fairly fast.
