07/25/13 At Rattle N Hum, NYC. On tap. Nice balance. If you appreciate the bitterness in caramel you'll like this one. Not that it's sweet nor over bitter, it's manages that spot in the middle. Kudos.

Pours a nice, rich, dark brown on tap at the source. Luckily, the head wasn't out of control like the previous two reviewers noticed, it was actually of a moderate size and left some nice lacing. Smell is slightly spicy, perhaps a bit of cinnamon, rather malty. Tastes spicy, again with the cinnamon, perhaps some nutmeg, slight bitterness at the end. Tragically the mouthfeel is watery and the carbonation (which others had noted), distracts from the overall experience. Drinkability is acceptable. Nothing special to report on that front.
While I loved what the brewmaster called his "Experiments" (his Imperial Stout and Wheatwine), this particular beer was a bit underwhelming.

Parents picked up a bomber of this beer this summer while driving down the PCH. They swung by San Luis Obispo to visit my mom's sister and saw this bottle at the local liquor store when they stopped to pick up a bottle of wine for dinner. I was kind of surprised to see it was not reviewed since it has been a while since the parents returned from their trip.
This damn beer wanted to give me head. Took me a while to drink it because no matter how carefully I poured my glass was half beer and half thick, foamy head that took bloody forever to go away. It was a reddish brown color. An incredible amount of carbonation was rising throughout the glass. Can I die from CO2 poisoning?
Nose is little bit malty and little bit disco, errr, little bit biscuity.
Flavor is all malts. On par for the style but they come across as sour. Some woddy oak flavors come across as well. Smokey a bit.
Mouthfeel is incredibly dry. First time I ever had a dry amber. Usually I find them to be a bit more slick and oily or heavier from the malts. This is inceedibly light and dry.
Struggling my way through this bottle. For some reason a dry amber is odd for me.
