Elements of Funk: Brettanomyces Bruxellensis exhibits floral characteristics and nectary tropical fruit notes when compared to its brethren. As the bruxellensis continues to develop in the bottle, so will the beer's character and the elements of funk. That's the brux of it.

A: Poured into a Duvel tulip to a light golden orange topped by a dnese and rocky three finger white head which fades slowly with excellent lacing
S: Smells of sweet tropical fruits with some slight spice, slight grassy hay notes, and a little bit of chalk
T: Taste is juicy tropical fruits with some nice spice, and slight grassyness. On the swallow the flavors are more tropical fruits and lingering spice with a slight chalky note.
M: This beer is on the lighter side of medium with carbonation that is lively and effervescent. The secondary fermentation also ensures that the beer has a drying finish.
O: Overall this was probably my least favorite of the series. It was well executed and had good flavors with some nice complexity but it seemed like the other strains brought a little more to the party. Worth a try if you want to continue your exploration on what different yeast strains do flavor wise.

Split with JLindros. Gusher.
A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice hazy golden hue with a huge four finger white head that fades slowly to leave rocky lacing.
S - Aromas of light barnyard funk, light floral notes and lemons.
T - Taste is similar to the nose, rather large funk and very little floral notes and soft vanilla.
M - Mouthfeel is very lowly carbonated, thin.
O - Overall this was a very poorly done brett beer, I expected way more.

Erupting pop, crazy pillowy head 4+ fingers barely leaves room for beer, super hazy orange color
Nose big farmhouse funk, horse blanket, tons of Brett, little fruity tangy sour little malt, little citrus lemony and floral.
Taste big funk, farmhouse, some horse blanket, little sweet toasted creamy malt, mild fruit, little tangy acidity, golden malt, toasted.
Mouth is med bod way too much carb, little sticky
Overall eh, good base, but way over carbed and Brett went too far

Bottle into a snifter appears a hazy pale color with excessive white foam for a cap.
The nose is cheesy and sulfuric with minerals, clove and a hint of wheat.
The taste is phenolic - earthy, funky and cheese-like with herbal bitterness.
This is light in body with excessive carbonation. Overall I felt the entire elements of funk series was a miss - trying each of the beers yielded minimal differences with the major characteristic being explosively carbonated. Not worth seeking out.

This was pretty difficult to pour- bottle started foaming like crazy upon opening, took a while to settle. Once actually poured- there's about a 4 inch head on top of a hazy orange-ish body.
Smells pretty sweaty Bretty, lots of pineapple, flowers, grass, a sort of barnyard-like horsey sweat, and pear.
This was better than I expected it to be- the Brett is unsurprisingly very strong, but pleasant- grassy, pineapple fruity, with a not too unpleasant sweaty, slightly briney character. It's very barnyardy, slightly cheesy, with a good sparkling flavor too.
This is very highly carbonated, but not distractingly so, with a slightly creamy mouthfeel.
This was fun to try- now to track down the other ones to compare.

L - Pours a pale amber (touch of gold) body with a frothy three finger eggshell colored head.
S - Funky, earthy and light belgian yeast and apple skin.
T - Funky, bready, belgian esters and mild tartness.
F - Light bodied, high carbonation and a dry finish. Crisp.
O - Super drinkable. After having Claussenii three days ago, and Drei two days ago, I'm starting to wonder if the base beer the brett is in is too prominent for the brett to shine and really have that isolated flavor from the 4 different versions. Having drank 3 out of 4 from this series, they're all so similar.
