An imperial sour blonde ale and our first bottled release of a fruited variant. We used the award-winning Train to Beersel base, then added copious amounts if juicy Oregon-grown marionberries and left it all to age in oak barrels.

The beer poured a nice off white and slightly tan creamy head that dissipates quickly. The beer itself is a clear deep purple with slight brown notes that is nice to look at.
The smell is pretty good. It had a decent funk with a good mix of sweet berry and light oak. The funk was the strongest part though.
The taste is pretty good. It starts off with funk and a light vinegar that gives way to a moderate wooden note from the oak and finishes with the sweeter marionberries.
The feel is good. It has a nice medium body to it and an acidity that isn't too hard on the tongue.
Overall, this was a pretty good beer worth having even despite how long I cellared it.

A: Poured into a Duvel tulip to a deep purple beer topped by a finger of dense and rocky dark pink head which fades slowly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing.
S: Smells of marionberries and sourness with a hint of oak and funk
T: Taste is a nice clean sourness that's slightly lemony, nice funk, and a good bit of marionberries as well with a touch of oak. On the swallow there's more marionberries, light funk, dry oak, light vanilla, and some lingering sourness.
M: This beer has a body which is on the lighter side of medium while feeling just a little syrupy. Carbonation is quite effervescent and slightly prickly while the acidity gives this one a drying finish.
O: Overall this is a really great beer. The base beer for this one is different than their normal sour blonde and it brings a lot to the party from a complexity standpoint. The fruit plays a nice supporting role instead of really dominating which also helps with the complexity. This one is definitely worth a try if you like fruited sour beers that taste like more than just fruit and sourness.
