The Zinfandel skins from Vindictive II were brought to Bruery Terreux® and were co-fermented with wort in an open top fermentation. This beer was then put to rest in French oak puncheons for 20 months and bottled to resemble a Lambrusco wine.

The pour is immediately intriguing, as you don't see a lot of garnet colored beers (or at least I don't). Once it settles in the glass it's much darker, and almost looks black, but it had very clear red hues on the pour itself. Almost zero head / carbonation.
On the nose I get loads of grape with some earthy funk underneath. This certainly smells like it was brewed with some sort of red grapes
Taste is really interesting. There's a tiny bit of sweetness immediately followed by what seem to be tannins, perhaps from some grape skins? These (what I think are tannins) create a little bit of bite, but not in a bitter way. Underneath all of this is an earthy mustiness that rounds out the flavor profile quite nicely. The finish is quite long and interesting as well, as the taste really sticks with you. This beer would definitely not be for everybody, but I really like the depth and complexity
Feel is relatively light with almost no carbonation
Overall, very interesting and different beer that I'm thoroughly enjoying

A: Poured into a Bruery tulip to a deep purple beer which was topped by a finger of off white head which fades quickly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing
S: Smells of lots of funk and sourness with some french oak along with some hints of currants
T: Taste is spicy oak, currants, grape skins and must, funky barnyard, peppery spice, along with a nice base of sourness along with a touch of red berries. On the finish there's more sourness, funk, french oak, some musty notes, red berries and currants.
M: This beer has a body which is surprisingly light given the abv but it is not watery. Carbonation is effervescent and slightly prickly while everything going on with this beer ensures that the beer has a drying finish.
O: Overall this is a really fun beer. Really nice flavors and complexity that definitely blur the lines between wine and beer. I really enjoy this one and wouldn't mind seeing it come into the regular rotation.

Crowler filled 12/7/2018 at Bruery Terreux
Appearance: Slightly cloudy deep red color with purple undertones. Small violet colored head that fades immediately. Color is very similar to that of a burgundy wine or other full-on red wine.
Smell: Very mild grape aroma and faint grassy/hay notes. The nose is fairly mild.
Taste: Tart grape notes, mild grassy notes, and mild leather notes. The beer finishes very dry and clean. This beer comes off to me as a wine first then a beer.
Mouth-feel: Light-bodied with a fairly modest level of carbonation.
Overall: An interesting wine/beer hybrid. not a "beer" for those that hate wine but for those that appreciate a good wine this is an interesting drink.
