Our friends at Mission Trails Cider provided us with fresh Jerkum barrels; an English type of wine derived from fermented stone fruits. We then added 125 pounds of fresh peaches per barrel, topped with Sour in the Rye, and laid it to rest for one year. The result is a sophisticated, fruity variant of Sour in the Rye that is truly unique.

3993 beers deep, and this is easily one of the worst I’ve ever had.

A: Poured into a Bruery tulip to a deep golden orange which is topped by a small white head which fades quickly into the ether with no lacing
S: Smells of huge peach notes with some spice and slight sourness
T: Taste is quite sour up front with a huge blast of peach flavor along with some spice from the the rye in the base beer. On the swallow this one is straight shock tarts and peaches with some light dry oak.
M: This beer has a body which is on the lighter side of medium while being a little syrupy. Carbonation starts off a little slow but ramps up to be quite effervescent while the beer has a drying finish due to the acidity.
O: Overall this is an outstanding beer. It has great flavors but does suffer a little bit in complexity. It's still extremely enjoyable. I'm not sure what the jerkum barrels were supposed to bring to the party but it seemed like everything in this beer was stone fruit driven which isn't a bad thing. Definitely worth the cost of admission and one I wouldn't mind seeing again.
