This ridiculous mixed culture sour ale, brewed in collaboration with our friends at Dogfish Head, was inspired by Sam Calagione’s love for verjus. Underripe Pinot Noir grapes were used to add acidity and a touch of color to the beer before aging in a French Oak foeder for seven months.

Name: This is Mrs. Ridiculous
Brewery: The Bruery Terruex
Location: Placentia, CA
Style: Barrel Aged Wild Ale
ABV: 7.1
Canned: Unknown
Date: 29 May 2025
The beer is Mrs. Ridiculous, in collaboration with Dogfish Head. I purchased this beer a few years back despite not having a date code or something. Pulling the cork out, a loud pop followed. Pouring into the glass, no head formed. Using a tulip glass, I served the beer at 50 degrees. The color is light caramel orange with amber hues, charting at SRM 12, and is translucent. The appearance is average regardless of any head formation.
Nosing the beer, I smell wine musk, funky barn, oak, jammy note, tart apples, floral esters, grass, and lemon zest.
Sipping the beer, a bright, tart lemon, crackers, wine musk, funky barnyard, earthiness, oak, light jammy fruits, Granny Smith apples, grass, floral esters, and light mineral/limestone notes.
The mouthfeel is mouth puckering, finishing dry. The body is light and has high carbonation.
I am generally a fan of wild ale beer, especially if it is done by Terreux or Dogfish Head. However, I found this beer overly tart and lacking balance.

Here's a beer from long ago that is just getting its second only review on this Next Glass owned website.
Pours a cloudy amber. 1/3" white head. I didn't expect it to look so malty. Maltyboi saison meets wild ale I guess. Has a sour aroma. Beyond that there is a hint of barnyard saddle and hay, but its minimized in comparison to the lemon sour note.
The grapes come out in the taste, I didn't really get it in the nose, but it has that hybrid wine beer feel to it taste wise. Its very acidic in the mouthfeel. Could do without that heavy sour and acid combo, really takes away from the nuance and almost literally hurts at times. I'm sure the french oak would shine a bit more if they took some of that down a notch. Drank like it was stronger than 7%. Feel the burn. He's more important than you, he needs to fly private. Simp for him.
I dunno, this one just burned me up more than the others in the series. Ratt's albums are better against the test of time than most butt rock.

A: Poured into a Duvel tulip to a clear light orange which is topped by a dense and rocky finger and a half of white head which fades somewhat quickly to a collar around the edge of the glass with minimal lacing.
S: Smells of light sourness, oak, grapes, hints of funk and a touch of musty leather
T: Taste is crisp lemony tartness up front before some grapes come into play, nice funky barnyard with a hint of band aid, touch of leather and furniture polish with a solid acidity throughout. Oak comes into play at times as well. On the swallow there's more barnyard funk and band aids with some more lemony sourness while some oak lingers on the finish.
M: This beer is on the lighter side of medium in body with a fairly crisp feel. Carbonation is adequate but may be just a touch on the low end for the style while the beer has a dry finish.
O: Overall this is a pretty good beer. The flavors are interesting and they all play very well together with good balance. It's worth a try if you like beer/wine hybrids.
