Ale with Graciano Grapes aged in French oak puncheons.
Our end of year Terreux wine project uses Graciano grapes; a Spanish red wine grape. The grapes came from "Groundwork" which is a sub-label of Sans Liege wines. The project will have spent around a year in barrel before packaging.

2018 vintage
A: Poured into a tulip to a deep reddish purple. As a still beer there is no head to be expected
S: Smells of red fruits, cassis, some slight iron and minerals, and some oak
T: Taste is slightly tart up front with some red berries, minerals, cassis, oak, hints of leather, granite. On the finish there's more tartness along with some balanced sweetness with more red berries, cassis, oak, a little funk, minerals, and granite
M: This beer has a body which is on the fuller side. There is no carbonation and the beer has a pleasant feel on the palate. The acid gives this beer a drying finish.
O: Overall this is outstanding. Really nice flavors and complexity while still being incredibly approachable. This honestly drinks more like a great wine than it does as a beer.

Cracked this 2018 bottle during Estate Harvest Wet Hop brew day in Reno. I was basically the supplier and lowest on the totem pole lift this guy assistant. Anyways, consumed I think the first week of October 2021. First review for this beer written on BA (flex).
Pours similar to a deep cabernet suavignon, that deep purple. Lacks head formation. I'm buying Eric Church tickets during this write up. Hell yeah, Miller Park baby. The cabernet reference continues as this puts out a remarkably similar nose, blackberry, currant, oak, plum and of course, dark, red grapes. I guess Graciano is the name of the actual grape, but it looks pretty damn similar to me.
Taste is just flat out one of my favorite beer/wine hybrid wild ales out there. Very soft 'sour' aspect to the beer. The french oak is discernable and well done, the year length seems to be right in my wheelhouse. As I continued to reflect on both the taste and mouth feel lacking the carbonation of 'beer', I began to believe this leaned more to the wine side of things than it did beer. And that is ok, because I really like it. ABV didn't come through like a 12% beer, was much easier to drink than its number states.
I still think Confession is my favorite, and I can't remember the name of that FW one that was really good, but this one might be my favorite red wine/beer hybrid out there.
