Its not everyday that I review a beer in a clear 750ml glass bottle, but here we are. I've always had a hesitancy with double digit abv wild ales, they just have so much burn to the them (booze/acidity). Cautiously, I waded into this one when we had some help to drink it.
Pours deep purple, sans smoke on the water. Hints of dark amber to it as well, didn't really do well at amassing/retaining a head, but this is straight up beer/wine hybrid territory. The aroma was juicy, dark fruit, red grape but not in the Russian Imperial Stout kind of way. Brighter. Grapier.
The taste is nice wine beer blend, pinot noir grapes jump. Dry mouthfeel, impressive use of both the oak barrel and wine skin. Not as acidic or boozy as feared the grape quality definitely pushed passed those concerns. Wasn't overly sour either. Impressive beer, wish I had another bottle of it. Pricey, yes, but good for special occasions, even if like the Exodus song, they come with verbal razors.

Pours a purplish cherry red from the bottle, effervescent and brief .25" pink-white head, ample robust (small) carb, no lacing. Nose is deep oak, grape mustiness, light red fruit. Very reminiscent of some of Cascades oak aged beers, particularly The Vine. Flavor is also very oak forward, with wood spice coming in mid-palate, and sour, tart fruit on the finish. A solid punch of alcohol is present, but not overwhelming. Mouthfeel is super light and refreshing. Overall, I thought the oak was a bit strong and would want the fruit to shine a bit more, but this was still a very pleasant surprise.
