At The Bruery we're easily-inspired and on this project, curiosity led the way. Castle Magic is an ale brewed with Tempranillo Grapes using the Pied de Cuve method. A cross between native and spontaneous fermentation - essentially the sourdough starter method of fermentation. The resulting ale is a grape forward ale that blurs the lines of beer and wine.

A: Poured into a tulip glass to a deep violet beer which has no head and no lacing due to the borderline still packaging
S: Smells of funk and oak with some violets, hints or red fruits,
T: Taste is some red fruits, some funk, a little leather, and then some mineral notes. On the finish there's notes of red berries, violets, leather, some slate and pencil shavings. The acidity is there, but it's pretty mild.
M: This beer tastes slightly effervescent with a moderate amount of heft on the palate with a fairly silky feel. Carbonation is just barely there while the beer has a drying finish due to the acidity.
O: Overall this is pretty nice, but it tastes a lot more like wine than beer. I'm not sure how it was initially, but it seems to have held up pretty well. Worth a try.
