This gose-style ale was inspired by a weekend trip to the SoCal staple, Catalina Island. We started with wild, Catalina-harvested yeast to reflect the island’s fun and funky spirit and added Pacific sea salt and black mustard seed. This Catalina gose balances crisp, tart character with a light saltiness and slight spice. Cheers to the island life!

750 ml bottle, it's a 2021 release but I can't read the month and date that's on the bottle. Served in a Teku, the beer pours a hazy dark gold/amber color with about an inch off-white head. Head retention is good and there's a decent amount of lacing. The brew smells like salt, wheat/grainy malt, mustard seed and earthiness. Taste is similar to the aroma, but I also pick up a coriander and a Grains of Paradise type flavor along with some tart citrus. Think the taste has some more kick compared to the aroma too. Mouthfeel/body is light/medium, it's smooth and refreshing with a good amount of soft carbonation. Easy enough to drink. I liked this brew, certainly worth trying if you like goses and/or tart brews!
