Canned 12/1/21
We’re back with another beer I received in a BIF from the generous @Eziel. Beer 2/17 from him and I’ll be stretching them out over a long period of time lol. So this sounds like a good fruit combo, and I could use a tropical treat right now. Let’s get into it
Pours an opaque burnt orange with no head and obviously no lacing. I wasn’t expecting a smoothie look from a “barrel aged sour” but I’m not complaining
It’s quite understated in the nose, but there’s a nice tangy acidity to it. I’m picking up on aromas of tart pineapple, lemon juice, sharp oak, light vanilla, and mango
I’m really intrigued by the blend of smoothie vibes and straight up Wild Ale that this beer provides in taste. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting underripe mango, orange juice, lemon zest, tart pineapple, light oak, and doughy malt. The swallow brings notes of pineapple sorbet, sharp oak, mango, light white wine vinegar, blood orange, and creamy vanilla
A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a creamy beer. Finishes quite dry with a nice funk to match the fruit
This one is quite unique for the style, and definitely the most drinkable I’ve had. It’s not ridiculously thick like the rest of them
