The roasty notes of Tart of Darkness immerse themselves in the tropical wave of flavor brought on by the addition of cherries and toasted coconut. It's like eating a cherry coconut pie with a nice cup of coffee.

A: Poured into a tulip to a black beer which is topped by a dense and slightly rocky finger of light tan head which fades quickly to a collar around the edge of the glass
S: Smells of sour cherries, oak, dark chocolate, and a hint of coconut
T: Taste is sour cherries up front with a touch of coconut, dark chocolate, a little coffee, oak, and a little bit of funk. On the finish there's more sour cherries, coconut, dark chocolate, oak, and some slight coffee with a little sweet cherry at the very end.
M: This beer has a body which is on the lighter side of medium with a slightly creamy feel. Carbonation is slightly effervescent and adequate for the style while the beer has a drying finish due to the ABV.
O: Overall this is a pretty nice beer. It has some good flavors and some nice complexity which make it pretty enjoyable to drink. It's sour but it isn't super over the top.

Using the Bruery glass, I served it at 52 degrees. The pour created a frothy and airy light tan head with little retention. The quick dissipation left no lacing on the glass. Charted the color around SRM 34; a dark brown, nearly black with ruby highlights. The beer has not had much going for it appearance-wise. Overall the appearance is okay.
Nosing the glass, I smell cherries, coconuts, light chocolate, coffee, subtle notes of molasses, and a touch of floral notes.
I could not smell the sourness, but the sour stout was strong in taste. Other flavors are cherries, molasses, chocolate, light coconut, coffee, and earthiness.
The mouthfeel is acidic and carbonated. The body is medium, has a medium-plus carbonation, and a lingering finish.
The beer's flavor profile is good, but I think I pushed this beer just a bit too long. The primary flavors are starting to diminish; nevertheless, it is still a tasty beer. I am glad I got to sip on this.
