More than the sum of its parts, this collaborative effort between the Sour Js – Jeremy from The Bruery and Jim from Firestone Walker’s Barrelworks – showcases the expertise that both of these teams bring to the industry. Barrels of Berliner Weiss styled ales, imperial sour ale, blonde sour ale, wheatwine ale, and a splash of old ale blend together beautifully, and after finishing on cherries in bourbon barrels, the final liquid is complex, nuanced, and perfectly funky.

Pours a rich amber orange, solid 1" head with very good retention and lacing. Nose is moderately acetic with lots of diverse fruit notes - red apples, apricots, cherry. Flavor expresses these fruits, and as it warms, wood notes come through, along with some musk and mustiness. Everything, however, is really well balanced, including the acetic acidity. Mouthfeel is pretty light given the ABV, and there is no hint of alcohol. A really well put together beer.

750 ml bottle, not able to find the bottling date on this one but it's a 2022 vintage. Served in a Bruery tulip, the beer pours a murky orange/amber color with a slight reddish tinge, and there's about an inch or so off-white head that sticks around a while. Good amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like cherries, vanilla, oak, funk and some lemony citrus. I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's the addition of some bourbon, wheat/grainy malt and earthy flavors. Good amount of tartness, with no one flavor overpowering the others. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's coating and has a moderate amount of soft carbonation. I thought this was a good overall brew, definitely worth trying if you get the chance!
