Oak barrel-aged spontaneously fermented sour ale with blueberries
We’re proud to present Myrtillehim, a masterful ode to brewing and blending tradition. Our dedicated Bruers used traditional Belgian methods of turbid mashing and spontaneous fermentation to let the open air of Anaheim convey instinctive flavors. During its 24 months of aging, this spontaneously fermented sour ale earns its name with a helping of fresh blueberries added to hand-selected, oak puncheons. This finished product balances notes of funky fruit and crisp, complex tartness our most keen enthusiasts will rejoice in.

750 ml capped and corked bottle, 2022 vintage. Served in a Teku glass, the beer pours a somewhat clear reddish/amber color with about an inch off-white/pinkish head. Head retention and lacing are both decent enough. I like the aroma, the brew smells like blueberries, lemony citrus, oak and some funk. Taste is pretty much just like the aroma, but with more of a sour kick than I was expecting which is a good thing in this case. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's smooth and has a good amount of carbonation. Think this one has aged well. I liked this one a lot, it's tart and fruity so if you like tart blueberry beers then give this one a try!

I am trying a wild ale tonight before I crash. The beer is 44 degrees and served in a tulip glass. The pour created a frothy and airy and no retention. No lacing was left on the glass after the quick dissipation. It is pinkish red with clarity. Overall the appearance of the beer is about average.
Nosing the glass, I smell oak, berries, a bit of barnyard, and a touch of funk with some acidic acid.
The flavors are berries, oak, lemons, a touch of barnyard, some funk, and earthiness.
The mouthfeel is tart and puckering. The body is light, has high carbonation, and has a dry finish.
A bright beer with lots of wild ale flavors. The blueberries provide a bit of tartness and subtle sweetness. I enjoyed sipping on this delight.
