Pours a mostly light amber color with a very thin 1/6" white head on the top. Aroma definitely imparts the dry oak, white grape zest aspect of the barrel, very well done in that regard.
Taste, hope you like white wine/chardonnay because that is what blasts through here. The base saison seems appropriate, but very much in the background while the barrel just hammers away at the taste buds, making sure it is the first guest through the door and the last one to leave as well, after partying most of the night with a lampshade on its head. Has tartness and brett, but stays out of sour territory, which is nice, I hate when a saison becomes a wild ale essentially.
24 ibu claim, seems on point. This is a good barrel aged saison that doesn't get trapped into being a wild ale.
