Pours a hearty black, thick but not syrup, tan head, 1/3". Aroma nicely imparts a hearty dose of bourbon and chocolate. Didn't pick up any of the alcohol in the nose , which is a nice feature when your beers hits that double digit alcohol point.
Taste just kept dropping more bourbon and more chocolate malt. This is comparable to Bourbon County or Eclipse in terms of how well the bourbon and chocolate malt notes integrate. Its plenty reliable in that regard. Where this becomes a difficult repeat purchase is its price point. $13 for 500ml. . . I mean, sure its better than Eclipse, but that is the high end of the spectrum. Its almost what Central Waters barrel aged 4 packs cost.
So its a good beer, does everything right, but at a price. I'll just stay with having it on tap. Waxed bottle is neat to look at i guess.
