a very light and easy drinking, assumably reliable pils, fairly well lagered and seemingly authentic and intentional on the mash, but after just a few minutes in this place, i immediately knew, its not what you come here for. you come for the epic wild beers, saisons, funky stuff, not the lagers, good as some of them were, but its cool to have a base beer like this that literally anyone who walks through the door can drink and enjoy, well refined, simple, lighter than many, especially anything from europe, very little malt body, not much hops to it until it warms a little, and a lager yeast that seems old world but also quite tame. the balance is there, the water chemistry is right, and the ferment is patient, these guys clearly know what they are doing. i guess i wish for a little more body and a bit more expansion on this soft biscuit malt base, it seems unnecessarily light, and i think the hops have something to give but could be ramped up a touch. i like that instead of a generic blonde or something they did this instead as a house ripper, so credit for that, but it could also be pretty epic with just a little more of what is already here. nice and dry, identifiably fresh, and quite well carbonated, so lots of things working its favor. this place rules, but it was the wild beer that got me hooked for life!
