a very light cream ale that almost hits like a lager, its simple but its purity and quality is easy to appreciate, and this is the kind of light craft drink i think most breweries need in house but so few really do anything more with them than make them as an afterthought. this isnt like that, the grain has a nice flavor, its fresh and the quality is there. it looks watered down and lighter than yellow, but it doesnt drink dumbed down at all, though its as light as they come. details have been paid attention to, things like water chemistry, mash and strike temperatures, tidiness of the ferment, those are the things that stand out in beer this minimal, and its dialed. its almost like there is just a little corn in this, its soft and sort of sweet tasting without being sweet feeling, and there is a light crackery thing to it as well. snappy and fast finishing, sudsy feeling for how light it is, its not even all that thin for what it is, and the yeast is minimal but not totally neutral which i think adds a little something distinctive to this. a hint of floral hops on the swallow, but thats it, very gentle there, and overall really. a four season yellow beer ripper for between all the heady wild ones they do in here, but its not a mindless beer either, and i like the carefulness it presents with. seems to me from our visit like these guys do just about everything well, and this lightest of offerings is no exception...
