Tiramisu Stout

exceptional beer, nowhere near ad sweet and dessert forward as anticipated, and i suspect some will dislike that, but this doesnt drink like pastry beer, and i for one and all about it. its a frothy solid oatmeal stout base, black and churning and alive from the can with some nice shine and density, done up with good coffee, chocolate, vanilla, and a little lactose, i thought perhaps there was a little more to tiramisu than that, but i am no expert. the coffee is nice and forward in the aroma and the flavor, i think this was just recently canned, so fresh and vibrant with cocoa notes of its own, a hint of hazelnut too, but more importantly i think, is that the vanilla and the lactose are restrained, this isnt even in milk stout range let alone diabetic, despite the ingredients making an impact, this is shockingly dry for literally having tiramisu squares on the can, and the roasted grain is not lost to the extras, so uncommon, i can even taste the oats! i love the creamy body pushing the bitter parts of the coffee, the roast, and the dark chocolate forward, vanilla is floral and sexy, and this finishes crazy fast for what it is, especially for having some sweet middle malt brown ale type notes in the center. oats froth it up, the roast and coffee keep it balanced, and i think the lactose is nothing more than a textural element. nice to see one of these lower abv too, a pint can is not too much. great beer, super drinkable for what it is. another gem from imbib, in some ways as good for what it isnt as it is for what it is!
