classic and well made, true to style, one of the less ambitious beers we had in here, but it was really neat that they had it on nitro and on the normal gas, we tried the two pours side by side to get a really complete experience with this. i think the nitro, like so many nitro beers, was a little muted in the nose and up front in the flavor, but the creaminess makes up for the mellowness, and it almost felt a little thin on the normal pour after having the nitro first, but the aroma and flavor there is way more robust, ashy and darker than it looks in the glass, which is more brown than black, coffee and even smoke nuances there, which i like, and seemingly a little more bitterness in the finish as well. the oats can be felt more than tasted in both, its nutty and earthy but the roast dominates. suggestions of raisin, dark chocolate, and unlit cigar, a little bit of sweetness in the middle but this definitely finishes up on the dry side. nothing really from the yeast, and sort of mellow overall. perhaps could be a little more robust on the whole, this hits at moments like a brown ale. certainly not the most distinct beer these guys are making, but a drinkable and to style brew, more flavorful on co2, more frothy and drinkable and relaxed on nitro...
