No noticeable dating. From the singles racks @ Wegman's. Let sit out for 5 minutes before opening.
Dark chestnut brown, with one finger of light tan head.
Smell is toasted nuts (walnut + pecan ?) , a little cola, molasses, brown bread, and wood.
Taste is bran muffin, but less sweet, a hint of toffee, plus the aforementioned nuts, & wood. Very light bitterness, near finish.
Feel is light, with light, very fine carbonation tingle. Slight drying at finish, that lingers til the next sip.
Overall, pleasant, and easy-drinking. Don't notice any smoky malt presence, and comes across more like a bock than any Scotch ale I've ever had. That said, if accepted for what it is, it is an enjoyable experience, that I would have again.

Pours a very dark amber. Light tan foam. Malty aroma. Light crisp malt body. Followed by sweet caramel flavor. Finishes a little dry. Not as heavy as some scotch ales. Very good overall.
