On tap at the brewery taproom in Hanoi.
Pours with a clear red body that looks like cranberry juice with water. Decent pinkish white head.
Rich fruity aroma with a moderately tart, clean, fruity flavor.
Overall: best dragon fruit beverage I've ever tasted.

On-draught @ the brewpub. 175ml for 45000 VND (like other PSBC beers, this is one of the priciest in the entire country).

Gose. 3.80% ABV.

APPEARANCE: Presents with no head - just an off-white floater ring signalling the head's less than 5 second retention. No lacing.

Body colour is a pinkish peach of average vibrance. No yeast or lees are visible within. Translucent and semitransparent.

AROMA: Pleasant smacky Lactobacillus bacteria immediately announces itself. Salty without being meaty or briney. Bright Fruity character is lovely, but I wouldn't recognize it as dragonfruit in a blind tasting. Sourness seems moderate (~4/10 in terms of intensity).

The coriander suggested on PSBC's description never emerges.

Suggests a great gose with a superb balance of sour, salt, and fruit, even if the depth of flavour doesn't seem to be as on point as the finest expressions of the style.

Aromatic intensity is mild (apt for the style).

TASTE & TEXTURE: Lovely. The dragonfruit does come through, lending this superb gose a unique memorable flavour. They committed to the salt, but it only aids the refreshing vibe of the brew. Coriander? No, but who cares?

Neutral wheat glues this together, giving it a light bodied backbone that bends whimsically to the Lactobacillus bacteria pulling the strings in this build. Sourness isn't puckering, but it's apt for the style, coming in at about a 5/10 in terms of intensity. A nice lactic smackiness accompanies the bacteria.

Balanced, well-built, approachable. Smooth, wet, well-carbonated. There's a natural harmony of acidic texture to twangy sour taste here.

OVERALL: In short, it's well-executed across the board, though there's ample room for more depth and expressiveness of flavour; dragonfruit in this gose is not as evocative as, say, blood orange is in Anderson Valley's.

Highly drinkable. Would make a superb summer brew.

The dragonfruit sets this apart from the other gosebiere in this recent craft beer trend, and I have to say I prefer this to many American expressions of the style. Hat tip to PSBC for a job well done, but let's bring that price down to local norms, eh?
