On-draught @ the brewpub. 175ml pour for 45000 VND. Truncated review below:
5.50% ABV.
The vanilla pounces - perhaps a bit too much, drowning out any nuances or subtleties the beer may have otherwise presented. But in a way it's enough for this lager; vanilla overwhelmingly dominates, but damn if the beer doesn't have flavour - and that's a rarity in Vietnam.
Any subtle toasty Vienna malt character has disappeared under the heavy veneer of the vanilla, making this an unconventional lager at best.
Smooth, wet, light to medium-bodied, unrefreshing.
A middle-of-the-road stab at a Vienna lager that will only impress those desperate for flavour after enduring Vietnam's beer wasteland. This would easily merit a revisit if it wasn't at least 6x the local standard price.
