375ml draught pour @ Buddha Bar in Ho Chi Minh for 90000 VND.
APPEARANCE: ~2cm wide head. Off-white. Frothy. 5-7 minute retention.
Body is a clear copper of average vibrance. Clean, with no visible yeast, lees, or sediment.
AROMA: Floral and resinous, promising the real hop character that is so rare in Southeast Asia. Pale malts. A hint of onion; perhaps Simcoe was used.
Aromatic intensity is average, promising a balanced, enjoyable brew with a semiassertive hop presence .
TASTE & TEXTURE: Floral, slightly oniony, a bit resinous, and balanced out by pale malts. Average depth, duration, and intensity of flavour.
Balanced and enjoyable, if a bit simplistic for an IPA. This invites obvious comparisons to the brewery's Jasmine IPA, and I have to confess I think it's a definite step down.
Mouthfeel is medium-bodied, smooth, wet, slightly overcarbonated, and somewhat coating.
Overall, it's enjoyable hoppy fare albeit unexceptional in terms of IPAs brewed round the world.
