On tap into a dimpled beer mug
A - Beer is clear with moderate carbonation rising towards the top of the glass. Beer is copper in color with an off white head that is frothy and is fairly well retained throughout the tasting. Head dissipates somewhat slowly and ends in a 1/8th finger layer on top of the beer. 3.75/5
S - Sweet caramel maltiness up front along with some herbal and grassy hops are the chief notes of the aroma. There is a bit of smokiness and earthiness as well as a bit of roast. Aroma is not massively pronounced but is strong enough to catch these aroma notes. 3.75/5
T - More roasted than toasted malt results in a deep bready malt that is slightly sweet. This roastiness also results in a bit of an earthy malt note that leads in to the grassy and herbal hops that form the back end of the tasting profile. Very clean tasting beer. 3.75/5
M - Very clean and crisp/light with somewhat of a carbonation burn that leads into a hoppy dryness but this dryness does not linger on the palate. Medium bodied in nature that disappears from the palate entirely upon swallowing. 4/5
O - Good Bock offering, especially to pair with food in order to match the roasted malt character and to highlight the sweetness a little more. Nice and clean feeling and tasting beer that sits light enough to drink multiple. 3.75/5

Nothing to blow you away...just a thoroughly good beer.
Served in a tall thing mug with a slight opening fluting at the top, with an eye drawing copper color with light orange hues this brew makes a great first impression. Head retention and lace is noticeable.
Sweet malts with a bit of alcohol in the front of the nose, though smell cannot be described as pungent as it is over powered by the smell of food and smoke that permeates the room.
Taste is a bit weak from my experience with the style. Goesser, Zipfer, and Unibraeu Wien all offer a more flavorful bock. Alcohol is not detectable, sweetness is sour-sweet balanced with a bready maltiness.
The lighter than normal alcohol content of this brew is advantageous...it makes ordering a second that much more guilt free.
