.5L mug at Siebensternbräu in Vienna. "unfiltered and 100% natural"
very dark, reddish brown with mahogany highlights. Durable tan head leaves very good, sticky lacing on the glass.
Aroma: malt + sweet vanilla + light smoke
M: full body with medium-light carbonation. Smooth
T: Not sweet, except immediately upon hitting the tongue. Vanilla in the finish. Surprisingly little sweetness while hops are subtle and only clearly present in the aftertaste.
O: excellent dunkle, even by Bavarian standards. [4.25]

Well, it is not the best beer in Vienna, but it is quite good. Comes out a clear light caramel brown under a 1.5 finger tan head that fades slowly, leaving great lace. Lots of caramel in the nose. The mouth is light and quite prickly. A good rendition of the style, with sweet caramel followed by a mild hoppy nip. The hops don't overwhelm, but never recede, either. Nice balance of sweet and bitter. A good drinking brew.

Had a huge 1L mug of this fantastic brew.
The brew is a gorgeous deep brown... almost black. It has a monster 1.5" head which leave huge chunks of lacing as the beer is drank.
There is a deep, rich, malty aroma that is moderately sweet and sugary. However, it is a bit one dimensional.
The flavour has deep hazlenut qualities with a full rich flavour. A bit of brown sugar and a touch of caramel. Lovely.
Big chewy dunkel. Maybe a touch overcarbonated, but fantastic nonetheless.
Amazingly drinkable. What a dunkel! I can say that Michael Jackson definitely knows his stuff, as he said this was the best dunkel in Austria. I've tasted nothing since ive been here than can even compete with this one.
