Austria produces a lot of Bock in the autumn ("Herbst"). 7 Stern clearly doesn't want to buck the trend. Comes out a cloudy slightly orange gold under a two finger off-white head with good body, nice retention and excellent lacing. Lots of sweet malt in the nose, with the slightest hint of caramel. Well-carbonated mouth is medium body. Slightly sweet malt introduction, mildly hopped with just a bit of bitter in the finish. A bit syrupy, with a smooth overall character adn a slight hint of grape. There's also a touch of something reminiscent of straw - for me a telltale sign of a Bock. The aftertaste is pleasantly bitter, while the alcohol remains well-hidden. A nice quaffer that will take care of business pretty quick if you're not careful.
