Dark and tasty. Big on dark semi sweet chocolate, not in a bad way. Great mouthfeel rich and smooth.

Picked up a 4 pack of these 16 oz cans from the brewery today. Sampling at cellar temp and poured into my snifter.
The beer pours a rich dark chocolate color with no light shining through my glass when held to the light. A dense and creamy tan head foams up 1.5 cm on the pour and gradually slips to a sturdy surface layer. This foam leaves dense lattice on my glass after each sip or swirl.
The aroma is bakers chocolate, roasted malt, some light char and a bit of a orange peel or candy note. Not sure if this has orange added, but I am definitely picking up this scent.
First sip reveals a medium to thick body with a soft creamy texture. The beer has soft gentle spacious carbonation. Physically this beer is a soft gentle brew, but the 9% means it will sneak up on me.
Flavor is similar to the nose. I get roasted malt and dark bakers chocolate. Very dry chocolate powder sort of flavor. A slight bitter coffee or high % cacao note comes through and again, I get orange notes. Almost like a sweet candy or extract orange flavor that sticks to my lips after each sip. Again, I wonder if Im making this up, but I get it with every mouthful, and I will say that I think it works with the rest of the beer. Almost makes for a chocolate orange candy flavor, but definitely doesnt overwhelm the bitter chocolate and roasted notes.
This is an enjoyable and easy to drink big stout, glad that Still Hill brewed this to support racial justice and equity here in Connecticut.
