Picked up a 4 pack of this beer at the brewery a few weeks ago. Pouring a cold 16 oz can into my snifter.
the beer pours a clear amber to chestnut color with minimal fizzy eggshell white head of 1 cm foaming up. this head fades to the thinnest of edge layers.
The aroma on this beer is malt forward with caramel and toffee and some light toasted grain or cereal notes. there is a hint of a spicy hop balance in the background.
First sip reveals a medium bodied beer with fine and prickly carbonation that dances along my palate after each sip.
the flavor is what the nose predicts with caramel, toffee and some brown sugar mixing with a bit of bread and toasted malt notes. I also get some spicy and earthy hop balance on the finish and the lingering flavor is a mix of toasted malt cereal and some faint earthy hops.
No hint of the ABV on this beer. it drinks easy and is a little on the sweet side, without being cloying.
Solid fall beer.
