Tap & Screw Brewery

I love visiting new breweries and I hit about 40 each year. This was one of the most disappointing ones I have been to in a long time. There were only 2 people in the whole place, and the flight of beers I tried were all uninspiring. The ambience was more of an old bar than a new brewery.

 

Totally enjoyed our visit to the West Sides most excellent brewery and eatery. This place, while a touch rough around the edges as far as an upscale experience, offers some excellent service, a knowledgeable and friendly staff, and some fantastic food with solid beverage offerings. Soft pretzels and beer cheese is the bomb. The screw burger was most excellent with a fried egg, jalapenos, and onion rings. The fish sandwich was also huge and excellent. Beer was solid with good hefeweizen, solid kolsh, and some unique fruit ales (peach and cherry). Oktoberfest and porter was solid as well. Very open and simple inside, a touch grungy, but comfortable. By the time you eat any of the food you will forget the decor and enjoy the great food and solid ales and porters. The chef and his wife are quite a team and great to talk to. A must for Cincinnati-ans.

Had given this place a 3.4 back in July of 2015. Revisited to see if they've gotten any better. Unfortunately this will probably be my last visit. The beers are still mediocre, and the selection and service were both worse than before.
