A very nice Belgian Dubbel. A clear red tone. The head was present but could be firmer. Tastes of cinnamon and mesquite provide a healthy taste of spice.

Poured a cloudy light brown body with an orange tint and light foam. Overall impression of appearance is of a good bodied Belgian, but not up to form with head formation. Scents of spicy Belgian yeast, giving notes of sweet spices with cinnamon, clove and allspice, fruity esters are present at high levels lending notes of apple, grape, dark fruit, raisin, fig and prune and notes of bubblegum, with the mesquite adding a smokey sweetness and notes of soft malt. Overall impression of aroma is of a nice medium darkness Belgian, with a very pleasing aroma and a nice twist from the mesquite, quite nice. Flavor begins lightly sweet with notes of dark fruit, especially raisin and date with notes of dry white wine and a faint mesquite and some phenols giving notes of allspice and clove. Middle gains a light dryness with notes of white raisin, raisin, date and sweet spicy phenols of white pepper, clove and allspice. Finish is dry with notes of phenolic spiciness, including white pepper, clove and allspice, white grape and light white wine along with esters of prune, raisin and date and light sweet alcohol. Aftertaste is dry with notes of white pepper, bready malt, and date. Overall impression of flavor is of a good Belgian, both sweet and dry, fitting a Dubbel, quite pleasing. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation and a chalky, drying feel. Overall impression of mouthfeel is of a true to form Dubbel, quite nice. Overall this is a pretty good Dubbel. It is light, yet filling, a nice feel and good flavor and aroma. A nice treat.
