Poured a cloudy brown body with one finger of foamy tan head. Overall impression of appearance is of a nice Dunkelweizen. Scents of rich, bready malt with toasted bread notes and a pleasant nuttiness from the pecans, some light spicy phenols impart notes of white pepper. Overall impression of aroma is of a malty beer, not to style for a Dunkelweizen, but with some of the yeast shining through. While not true to style it is pleasant. Flavor begins with a balance of tart citrus flavors, toasted bready malt and spicy white pepper phenols and notes of bread crust with some light banana present. Middle opens up further spicy white pepper phenols adding a touch of clove. Finish is dry with notes of white pepper and clove, toasted bread, bread crust and citrus esters. Aftertaste is bread crust, toasted malt and pecans. Overall impression of flavor is of a good Dunkelweizen. Mouthfeel is light bodied with effervescent carbonation and a drying feel. Overall impression of mouthfeel is of a very nice Dunkelweizen. Overall this is a fairly good beer. While its aroma is not an amazing example of a Dunkelweizen it makes up for this with flavor and mouthfeel. Quite pleasant.
