355ml can poured into tulip.

Pours a clear straw yellow with one finger of sugar white head that leaves a decent sheet of frothy lace as it recedes.

Smells of crispy grain, apple chips, soft pink bubblegum and some faint leafy hops.

Tastes of shredded wheat breakfast cereal, faint pomme fruitiness, citrus pith and more grassy, leafy hops.

Feels light and fizzy. Light bodied with peppy carbonation. Finishes dry.

Verdict: Recommended. This would have been pretty tasty a couple weeks ago when it was nice out.

355ml can - the name is a reference to another Red Deer 'human interest' story from the past, one where a woman and a beaver (I'm not kidding) became friends.

This beer pours a hazy, pale golden yellow colour, with a teeming tower of puffy, finely foamy, and somewhat creamy bone-white head, which leaves some decent dense tree branch pattern lace around the glass as it lazily sinks out of sight.

It smells of bready and doughy cereal malt, a lesser grainy wheatiness, some mild earthy yeast, faint pink bubblegum notes, and very tame leafy, musty, and floral hop bitters. The taste is gritty and grainy pale malt, wet Wheat Thins, a laid-back estery yeastiness, some subtle generic citrus rind, and more well-understated earthy, herbal, and floral green hoppiness.

The carbonation is average in its swirling and twirling frothiness, the body a so-so medium weight, and generally smooth, with a faint airy creaminess evolving as things warm up a tad around here. It finishes off-dry, the varied Alberta malt character presiding.

Overall - this is a pleasant enough version of the style, nice and malty, with the yeast and fruity essences mainly phoning it in. I'm not hanging out with any unusual friends, per se, but I haven't checked Twitter yet today, so that may soon change.
