Reviewed from old notes. Tulip at the Underground on Jasper Ave.

Pours a clear honey yellow with one finger of off-white head that leaves some overcast sky lace as it recedes.

Smells of peach, nectarine, orange ice cream, mango, grapefruit, sweet lemonade, fresh bread and green leaves.

Tastes of bready caramel malt, peach chunks, citrus juice and piney herbal hops.

Feels soft and creamy. Medium bodied with frothy carbonation. Finishes dry.

Verdict: Highly recommended. Very solid.

473ml can - quite the busy patterned label, but I like my hexagons (don't know what that means), so we all good.

This beer pours a slightly hazy, pale golden yellow colour, with four flabby fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and bubbly bone-white head, which leaves some decent dissipating rain cloud formation lace around the glass as it lazily sinks out of sight.

It smells of gritty and grainy cereal malt, some mixed melon fruitiness, a further orange and lemon citrus character, some damp minerality, and a plain earthy, weedy, and piney green hoppiness. The taste is bready and doughy caramel malt, some honeydew and cantaloupe melonball frooty essences, Five Alive, some stoney flintiness, and more understated leafy, earthy, and musky floral hop bitters.

The carbonation is quite tame in its genial and frothy demeanour, the body a solid medium weight, and generally smooth, the hops playing their gentlemanly observer card here. It finishes off-dry, the robust fruitiness the order of the lingering day.

Overall - yup, this comes across as a very quaffable example of the style, the bitterness of its far western brethren barely to be seen. Slick, easy to enjoy, and with no sign of the extra buck-fiddy of the ol' wowee sauce, something for those lounging on the virtual patios of the moment, that isn't some sort of cooler or 'hard soda'.
