This is their Belgian styled pale ale with the addition of house malted chocolate malts. It pours a beautiful rich amber with a very thin head that dissipates quickly. The smell is malty sweet with that classic banana note that beligians are noted for. The smell is pleasant enough (I'm not a big fan of the banana-y Belgians) but is fairly one note. The taste is pleasant and mild, a hop bitterness paired with that banana note leads things off, followed by a crystal malt back that supports the rest of the taste which finishes with a strong sense of cloves and grassy/herby hop notes. The beer moves smooth across the palate crisply, not overwhelming and certainly drinkable. A nice example of a modern funky pale ale. Best enjoyed on tap in their funky mckinleyville tap room straight from the brewer/farmer himself.
