A massive Kahlua colored head towers above the deep ebony liquid. This is definitely verging toward Mordor territory here
A whif of this monument to beverage reveals deep notes of dark bread toast, roasted coffee and the burnt chocolate on a baking pan.
A sip gives you toasty and chocolatey flavors with a bit more herbal, licorice/anise/cardamom note that lends a bit of character to the bitter edge on the sweet malt notes.
This beer brings big flavors but dances across the palate like a featherweight champ. Its not hard to imagine yourself as a 19th century baggage handler sitting down to a few quarts of this after a 14 hour day in the yard. Bitchin to the boys about the boss and the damn kids while this sweet elixer takes your worries away.
Overall this is one of the better examples of an English style porter I've ever had. Its robust in flavor and aroma but light bodied and almost disturbingly easy to drink
