i reckon for the price, you cant get a better czech lager than this. it costs bugger all, and is actually very tasty an satisfying. not to mention the pint bottle size. sure ive had better, but i always enjoy this beer every time i drink it. its actually quite unusual in its character.

darker in its golden hue than a standard lager, but still has the regulation white foamy head. nice nose, that has a savory element, but also sweet vanilla like presence with traces of straw and floral hops. the taste has a good firm maltiness which starts out salty, i sense a hint of something like vegetable or chicken stock, but then progresses into a sweet flavor and a gentle but assertive hop bitterness that combines well with a fine level of fizz. very tasty and robust compared to others in the style, and also has an impressive balance considering its relative diversity in character.

isnt as hoppy as youd expect from a czech lager, but doesnt really lack in this area as the flavors behind the hops are far more interesting than even budvar and urquell. not necessarily better, but certainly something very different, and no less enjoyable in its own right.

Comes an a .5 liter Euro-style bottle with a yellow label, showing a old bearded man enjoying a Breznak. Label states this beer is 14% original extract, whatever that means. Pours a dark gold, not light enough to be a lager. Head dissipates very quickly, although carbonation is moderate. Smells of alcohol and hops. Tastes like a typical light lager, crisp and hoppy, clean with not much of an aftertaste. An average brew.
