Bought at the supermarket in Olomouc (Moravia, Czech Republic). 0,5 l poured into a glass.
-Translucid pale colour. HUGE foam head. Leaves lots of foam traces.
-Floral, Herbal and honey. Not huge smell but decent.
-Light taste.
-Bitter taste. Leaves numb tongue.
It is a pretty decent Czech Beer. I highly recommend it.

Considering how cheap this is in Germany it's a really decent czech Pils.
Aside from the rough bitterniss (byproduct of using Hop extract) it's very drinkable.

When most people in the world think of beer what they overwhelmingly envision is a Czech Pilsner (or some derivation thereof) and, indeed, this one fits that picture: Březňák Světlý Ležák has the golden-yellow colour of summer corn, uninterrupted clarity, the odd fluttering bubble, and a thin patch of bleach white head.
The flagship quality of a true Czech pilsner is the spicy, floral notes of the Saaz hop - or at least it should be. Though brewed in the Czech Republic, Březňák smells like it could have been made most anywhere; the nose offers no defining characteristic save for that all-too-familiar light graininess and faint corn-like flavour.
Good quality malt makes for a lack of bad flavour in the aroma and a plethora of nice flavour on the palate. This lager is sufficiently clean, pointing to a lack (or conservative use) of adjuncts, but doesn't have the delicious bready taste of other Czech pilsners. It's more light-medium bodied than medium and drinks closer to a standard commercial lager than pilsner...
In large part because it's also lacking the style's trademark floral and grassy hop notes; the finish is marked by a modest earthiness but, as in the bouquet, it fails to impress the spicy, floral aura of Saaz. What I think of as 'authentic' Czech pilsners - and certainly the ones I enjoy the most - have a lot more hop presence than this.
Contrary to what many beer geeks believe, "basic" does not equal "bad". Basic can be very good. In this case, however, "basic" could be a lot better, notably by displaying more of the basics - for a Czech pilsner hops are severely underrepresented in both aroma and flavour. Then again that's not surprising when a brewery like Heineken is pulling the strings behind the scenes.

As Březňák Original Böhmisch Pils. Clear golden color with off-white head. Aroma has sweet malt notes, bread crust and some honey. Taste follows with burnt bread crust, bittersweet but still more towards the malty side with a background earthy hop bitterness. Medium body with medium to low carbonation. Sub-average lager beer.

500 ml bottle, bought in Germany under the name Breznak Original Bohmisch Pils. Poured into a footed pilsner glass.
Colour is very deep yellow-golden, with something more of two fingers of foam. White and soapy, with very good retention and heavy lacing left on the glass. A constant stream of bubbles is rising to the surface. Aroma is quite hoppy, but not as much as I would expect from a Czechish pilsner. Some light malt aroma too, along with adjuncts. Rice, maybe?
Nice bitter taste. Unfortunately, very metallic at first, along with this adjunct flavour, but it gets much better on the aftertaste where the hops really shine, with a long finish as well.
Medium thickness on the body, very dry on the palate and just the right amount of carbonation.
I really liked this one, very good.

An easy to find Czech pilsener (in Germany). Everything you’d expect from a pilsener from the birthplace of the style. Hop bitterness hits you on first taste. Delicious and thirst quenching...
