The Wash Creek was created to accommodate both those new to craft beer and those looking to take a step back from the big hoppy profiles usually associated with an IPA or a Pale Ale. The Wash Creek captures the drinkability of a domestic lager while capturing the flavors of freshly milled grains and aromas from light hop additions typically found in blonde ales. Not quite fitting into the category of a Blonde or a Lager we decide to create or own style for it the “Appalachian Ale”.

12 oz can from an Ingles Market near the NC brewery.
Feel. Light body is a bit watery. Decent carbonation.
This light golden ale looks mild and it is mild even for a blonde ale. It is clean and well balanced with sweet grains prominent in the initial flavor but more spicy hops appearing in the finish and aftertaste.

A: Pours a clear very pale golden yellow in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and moderate bright yellow + honey colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall sudsy foamy white head that reduces to a medium to large sized patch of medium thick film surrounded by a large patch of mottled very thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate aromas of cracker + grainy + pale malts with moderate amounts of grainy sweetness. Light aromas of grassy hops.
T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of cracker + grainy + pale malts with moderate amounts of grainy sweetness. That is followed by very light flavors of grassy hops which impart a hint of bitterness which fades away leaving a relatively clean finish.
M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly crisp with a relatively clean finish.
O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol and a pleasantly light + crisp + clean mouthfeel. Enjoyable though overall light in flavor and aroma - nothing that stands out about this beer but certainly serviceable.
