Light, easy drinking, green bell pepper notes, lilac flower, floral earthy herbal grassy hops, lighter medium bodied, crackery malt base, light toasty white bread

Delicious beer! I wouldn’t call this an APA. Reminds me more of a hoppy kellerbier.

Straw color and clear. Small, briefly lasting, head. No lacing.

Slightly stale and skunky to the nose. There's a light sourness to the otherwise very pale malt smell. Light lemon notes.

A crisp, highly carbonated beer. It fits the lawnmower category but with significantly more flavor. It's refreshing with a nice hop spice coming in the swallow. Relatively short, but satisfying aftertaste.

On tap at Winter Hill Brewing in Somerville, MA.

This one pours a slightly hazy golden yellow color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like wheat, lemon, sweet malt, a touch of pine, and orange.

This is extremely light in flavor, but it’s a bit charming anyway. It’s got a very crisp flavor, with some light and clean tones of lemon and orange. There’s a lot of wheat that adds a bit of creaminess. The malt character is sweet but doesn’t ruin it for me at all.

This is very light bodied, and very clean and drinkable.

This is super light, but it’s also refreshing and great in the heat.

I didn't really know what to expect going in to this one, so I just decided to crack it and give it a pour. Is it going to be a really hoppy session IPA-ish thing, a balanced pale ale...? Who knows?

Pours a very slightly hazy golden/light orange color with a pretty nice, stable head of bone-white foam. Great lacing and surprisingly nice legs... honestly, this looks good! I still don't really know what it's going to be, but the way it sits in my glass is satisfying. It sure doesn't look like any kind of modern pale I've seen considering that weirdly translucent yet clear-ish appearance.

The nose is... well, okay. Here's where I was initially kind of thrown off. I'm not going to lie, this isn't really a "pale ale" in the way we typically think of them as BeerAdvocates. I guess this could probably be considered more in line with the idea of an American Pale Wheat Ale, as it is much less punchy than expected. I mean, this almost smells like hops weren't even involved in the brewing process. It smells like bread dough with a very light suggestion of lemon and herbalness. Nothing is really going on here, at all. I actually thought this beer was canned improperly or something upon first impression, but then I took a sip and my brain recalibrated, allowing me to think of this in a more proper context.

This tastes like a very plain, drinkable, perhaps even "crushable" wheat ale. It has some fun, fruity esters and suggestions of floral and herbal flavors with some delicate bread crust and citrus notes coming through toward the mid palate. The finish has some orange marmalade and light notes of yuzu with a very slight zip of bitterness. It's crazy how much taking just a few sips of this changed my mind on what it was and could be. I still don't think the scent lives up to how refreshing and surprisingly complex the flavor profile is given what I'm drinking here, but there you have it. This was just a weird drinking experience. The feel is definitely wheat-forward with some nice heft to it, low-ish carbonation and a medium body with just a touch of residual sweetness. I could see this being fun for Summer parties or something... weird that it was recently released. It's kind of a strange underdog beer, though... I think I would get it again to bring to a pool party where non-craft beer drinkers were gathered or something. Kind of has that crossover appeal going for it.
