Near black color, only bright light passes through the edge of the glass. Off white (small) head which leaves a lattice of lace on the glass.
Toasted pumpernickel bread aroma.
The taste is similar to a brown ale/porter mix. It has subtle darker flavor with some burnt and chocolate malts. I’m not sure where the “Kölsch” comes in, but this is a good beer. Thinner body as expected with a neutral carbonation level. The finish is refreshing and yet the darker malts dominate.
