This beer is having a mid-life crisis.
It's really just an old school, basic pale ale. It's got some good malt to it. It's not too thick or syrupy. It's a little thin. It's got great color to it. It's very drinkable.
And there are these hops.
The flavor is something you'd expect from a much beefier brew. Typical grapefruity almost IPA bitterness.
So what are you, Mr. Chronic? An old school, super drinkable pale ale? Or are you this headstrong bastard trying to be an almost-IPA? If the latter, this brew needs some real meat -- a bit more chewiness. If the former, the hoppy, puckering astringency needs to be toned down a bit so this can serve as a great with-food beverage or session brew. Close to being pretty damn good.

Grapefruit rind.
Grapefruit juice.
Grapefruit essence.
Cascade hops never tasted so unselected. Or, maybe grapefruit is the flavor that earns points .... somewhere. Ok, it's refreshing, and natureal, and cleansing. But, advice to brewmaster: "Hold the blind Cascade tip." You have a good product. Don't ruin it.

This APA has a nice spicy and lingering bitter character. The IBUs in this beer are higher than most APAs. Reminds me of Concord’s Pale Ale. Good.
