Bought a 6 pack of cans at Toby's, enjoyed from a lager glass. Is that anime on my beer can? Not a promising start. It pours clear and coppery, head, whatever. Taste is spicy, hoppy, and doughy. The finish is quite good and the feel I'd say makes this more suitable for 1 pint than a session. Not lacking in imagination, and an enjoyable beer overall, but borderline basic in a city full of excellent beers. Worth trying a pint.

355ml can, with a whole lotta apologies on the label about not calling this either a 'Steam" or "California Common' beer. Litigious assholes make this scribe shed baby tears.

This beer pours a mostly clear, medium bronzed amber colour, with a fistful of puffy, broadly foamy, and bubbly ecru head, which leaves some decent awkward cloud profile lace around the glass as it slowly fades away, seemingly with its tail between its legs.

It smells of bready and slightly doughy caramel malt, a twinge of unwarranted yeast (so, bang-on for style points!), muddled and generic citrus fruit, and plain leafy, weedy, and floral hop bitters. The taste is gritty and grainy pale malt, a sassy and somewhat astringent yeasty measure, overripe pome and citrus fruity notes, and more tensely rendered piney and leafy hop bitterness.

The carbonation is fairly thorough in its palate-clogging frothiness, the body a steady middleweight, and mostly smooth, despite that hard to pin down otherness. It finishes off-dry, but barely, as the inherent toasted cereal character poses intentions of running rampant, if ya know what I mean.

Overall, I'm certain that I have no idea what the fuck I'm talking about - what can I glean from the base, um 'style' to make assertions when upstarts like these start messing around with boatloads of hops? Oh, right - those poor English brewers who saw their so-called plain ales be run roughshod by admittedly needy Yankee interlopers. Or something - mike drop - I am out.

Poured from a 650ml bottle into my IPA glass, 5.1 ABV ,30 IBU with Citra,Galaxy,Helga,Ella,Topaz and Amarillo Hops. They call it a Amber Lager.
A: Pours a clear copper with a nice white head that stays and wonderful lacing.
S: Mild spice and hops
T: Very different like a Lager/IPA hybrid the hops stand out big time with nice bitterness.
F: Perfect
O: Wow i love this one full hop flavor this is a winner.
