473ml can - brewed at Craft Collective Beerworks, which would make it more of a Doan's thing, amirite?
This beer pours a murky, medium golden yellow colour, with three fingers of puffy, rocky, and mildly bubbly off-white head, which leaves some random streaky lace around the glass as it lazily sinks out of sight.
It smells of bready and doughy cereal malt, muddled and candied domestic citrus rind, a hard water stoniness, and some earthy, leafy, and dank piney green hop bitters. The taste is gritty and grainy caramel malt, some orange and red grapefruit citrus flesh, a further indistinct melon-forward fruitiness, and more leafy, herbal, and piney verdant hoppiness.
The carbonation is fairly restrained in its lame-seeming frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and generally smooth, with nothing really a cause for concern at this particular juncture. It finishes off-dry, the mixed frooty character really exhibiting some lingering legs.
Overall - yup, this comes across as a pleasant enough version of the style, with the Denali hops working it like they own it. Not all that bitter, and sipping on the rest of this offering as darkness falls still way too early is the prescription for the rest of my fading afternoon.
