Cloudy orange-brown color. Poured no head, only a patchy skiff. Medium sized bubbles collected on the glass side. A high flow of medium sized bubbles could be seen at the side rising from the bottom. It was too cloudy to see bubbles at any depth.
Sweet fruity smell with a yeast funk. Medium sour/tart acid scent. Light scent of a mild malt. Swirling the glass kicked up more fruit and a hint of barnyard.
Funky and tart flavors dominate. Cranberry fruit grows stronger as it warms up. The label says 7 IBU, but the cranberry bitters are much stronger than this. The aftertaste is mostly bitter cranberry. The tart fades away, letting the sweet show up a bit more.
Light tongue tingling. Doesn't foam up much; it is more like a soft drink. The cranberries make this somewhat astringent.
The cranberry overly dominates this. Most of the fruit Saisons/Wild Ales produced by this brewer have a much lighter touch with the fruit, with their best using almost homeopathic amounts of fruit. This is almost like a radler made 50:50 with ale and cranberry juice. I'm not a big cranberry fan; people who have a jug of cranberry juice in their fridge will appreciate this a lot more.
