I've heard many good things about Wren House, so when I saw this strange sounding Wheatwine on Tavour I knew I had to have it. Vanilla and smoked pecans? This sounds like it'll be right up my alley. That being said, I'm just hoping it doesn't trend too sweet. Let's crack it open and find out

Pours a very dark brown with2 fingers of creamy dark tan head that slowly fades to a ring and leaves decent lacing. I haven't had many Wheatwines, but this is the darkest I've seen by a long shot

The nose seems to keep everything in check really nicely, bringing a decent amount of sweetness but nothing overbearing. I'm picking up on aromas of burnt caramel, toasted pecan, raisin, brown sugar, molasses, black pepper, sweet vanilla, and a touch of campfire smoke

The pecan is even more intense in taste, something I haven't quite experienced before. On the front end of the sip I'm tasting smoked pecan, dark toast, smoked malt, hazelnut, burnt caramel, vanilla, brown sugar, and light raisin. The swallow brings notes of toasted pecan, milk chocolate, hazelnut, burnt caramel, brown sugar, black pepper, beechwood smoke, and light toffee

A medium full body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a smooth beer with a little bite. Finishes mostly dry and drinks well below its abv

I was not expecting to enjoy this one as much as I did. It's not the most complex beer, but super fun

So fun fact, we actually went to Little Miss BBQ and had the pecan pie when in PHX, and it was incredible! Certainly a worthy inspiration for a beer! (Or anything for that matter, delicious!) Curious how it would translate. Opaque brown pour with two fingers of brown foam. Wheat and smoked pecan with caramelized dark fruit, slight booze and lactose in the taste, where the nose is more focus on the caramel and nuttiness. Weird in the shift from hyper sweet to earthy smoked nuttiness in how extreme and quick it is but I don’t hate it. Where the pie melds all together, here there are layers and stages of separation. Still, warm, smooth, rustic and sugary all at once in the mouthfeel, little thin. I feel like this swung for the fences and scored a solid double, would recommend but suggest you trying the actual pie more

Dang, surprised I haven't reviewed this yet. I say that a lot. Anyways, brown pour. Not sludge. Looks brown ale-esque. Has a light brown head, 1/4". In the aroma, hold your horses, you get a good amount of pecans. Its well done and enjoyable, possibly the most enjoyable aspect of an enjoyable beer. If you look for the vanilla you can smell it too.

The taste is a pecan delivery system. There is a nice light caramel toffee underpinning. The mouth feel is very nice, definitely a sipper, but a smooth one at that. The rumor is spreading round, in that Arizona town, outside, inside Phoenix. It goes nutty beyond just the pecans. I prefer the relatively light body, the longer boil brings a tad more bitterness, I didn't think it needed to be beer nerd Chicago pour viscosity'd up, but that's just me. Very nice mouth feel.

I dig wheatwines, I wish we had more of them. This is pretty much a must have during the holiday season (Thanksgiving - New Year). Like Toby Keith said, getcha some.

A Tavour Treat. Pours a dark brown color with a foamy tan head that lasts quite a while. Aroma of dark fruits and nuts. Taste is sweet and nutty. Thick, smooth and creamy.

 

 

 

 

Can from Jeremy. Dark brown, almost see-through, small beige foamy head. Nutty aroma, nutty taste, sweet, not as much as the pie. Some molasses,, kind of sticky.
