Raisin Eaters is a tribute to the Fresno Raisin Eaters, a minor league baseball team from 1906. We brewed a traditional English Barleywine with 200lbs of Organic Raisin "Butter" (aka puree) and then aged the final beer for nearly a year in a mix of Bourbon and Rye Whiskey barrels. It's tasting like a fine port wine

L: pours light brown with a small head...but is a rusty brown in the glass
S: caramel sweetness jumps out and some nice barrel notes
T: humm..nice flavors but lacking depth. The flavors fade away fast. Definite raisin and caramel notes, the barrel is very lacking.
F: very thin and watery. It’s too bad

Had on tap. Off the smell you knew raisin, and other dark fruits, would be featured heavily. The barrel wood came across as buttery and sweet, though the rye, bourbon, and barley help balance. Very, very smooth, with a butterscotch sweetness on the finish. Good construction and execution of vision

Received in a trade and shared with JLindros.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice hazy light chestnut hue with a thin wispy head. Great legs.

S - Aromas of nice raisins, bourbon juice, light rye. Good caramel as well. Really really pleasant barleywine notes. Lovely oak.

T - Taste is similar to the nose, really nice caramel. Good raisins that linger quite nicely on the after taste. Good bourbon and rye. Lingering caramel and lightly bitterness.

M - Mouthfeel is nicely carbonated, creamy, pleasant bitterness.

O - Overall this was a very solid barleywine. Excellent raisin notes and great barrel as well.
