Handsome dark brown brew with abundant foam in the Gordon HIghland thistle glass. Quite strong tasting. Moderately sweet. Somewhat smokey and plenty bitter. Tastes of apples, burnt sugar, and roast malt with plenty of caramel.
This is not what I'd call a Scottish Ale, but it's not in the ballpark of the Wee Heavy stuff. Should be a category for American Scotch Ale! Fairly drinkable and at least it's something different in this hop-addled world. From the 16 oz can purchased at Bine & Vine. Dated 11/2/21.
