Received as a gift, the beer pours the expected blackish brown color with good head retention and lacing. On the nose there's a bit of a roasty quality, along with light licorice, vanilla, dark chocolate and coffee. The flavor profile replicates the nose in this dry, lightly bitter stout. There's an underlying creaminess as well, for all that the mouthfeel is pretty thin. Alcohol is well integrated into the flavor profile, and is virtually undetectable.
While nothing extraordinary, this is a decent, well crafted Irish style dry stout. Probably wouldn't give up Guinness, Murphys or Beamish for this, but it's not bad.

Thick black beer with sustainable brown head.
Roast and sweetness smells. Wood.
Nice bitterness, coffee like roast flavors. A touch of sweetness too, just a touch.
Bitter finish, chalky. Nitro lends to a full feel, like vibrant. Nice American take on a classic Irish stout. Another above average Wren house offering here.
